BRACES
Braces are a very common solution for patients with smiles that need a little help getting straightened out. Orthodontics is all about creating stunning smiles and improving dental health. These days, orthodontic treatments are much more convenient and affordable, so if you suspect your child needs braces, don’t worry! We can discuss the various options that are available and go over the details so everyone feels 100% comfortable with the process.
F.A.Q.
At what age should children get braces?
There is no universal age that works for every child. We like to wait until kids are at least seven years old, but after that, it really all comes down to what we see during our thorough examination, as well as how the child is feeling. Some children are very self-conscious, and in those cases, we like to consider braces earlier if at all possible.
Are braces painful?
Braces have come a long way in the past few decades! While there is some discomfort the first few days after they have been put on and for a few hours after an adjustment, it isn’t really painful. Even if you do not opt for Invisalign, you’ll be amazed at how much more comfortable and how much more conspicuous braces are these days. Additionally, braces work better than they used to, which means your child won’t have to wear them as long as you might have had to when you were a kid.
What other benefits are there to having braces?
In addition to straightening your child’s teeth, braces can help correct other common issues as well. For example, they can correct an overbite or underbite, which can make it much easier for your child to keep his or her mouth happy and healthy. If they’ve been experiencing pain while chewing, braces will likely correct that as well. They’ll also have less gingivitis and fewer cavities!
