Sealants

SEALANTS

Dental sealants are like a superhero when it comes to keeping tooth decay at bay. Brushing and flossing is great, but it can be hard for kids to reach the back molars. That’s why we offer sealants; a thin, protective coating that’s applied to the permanent molar. This barrier helps protect the molars and keep your kid’s mouth cavity-free! In fact, the CDC says that school-age children without sealants have almost three times more cavities than children with sealants.

F.A.Q.

Who are sealants recommended for?

As soon as your child’s permanent molars come in (around the age of six, typically) they can have sealants applied. The earlier you get them, the better! Children get a second set of molars around the age of 12, so we always recommend they get sealants applied to those teeth as well. We can always help you decide if sealants are a good option for your kids, but in most cases, they’re going to help keep their teeth cavity-free, saving you time and money in the long run.

How long do sealants last?

Sealants can last up to ten years, but we’ll check them during each check-up to make sure they still look good. If we need to re-apply them, we can do that during the regular appointment.
